Sustainability

The Cresent family believes that a healthy environment is a critical component to ensure success for future generations. We support the responsible management of forests and understand the importance of a thriving diverse environment. To that end, for our new Cresent Classics collection, we work with American hardwoods harvested from the Appalachian Mountain region of the United States by wood vendors that meet strict local, state and national standards for forest management. Since 1977, the tree population of the Appalachian forests has grown each year through a combination of sustainable management practices and thoughtful long term planning by the industry.  For more information, please visit www.appalachianwood.org.

In an effort to reduce our carbon footprint, for all of our interior parts (such as drawer sides and backs) we specify locally raised plantation rubber wood that, if not recycled into furniture, would be burned, creating noxious fumes similar to burning tires.

Cresent is a founding member of the Sustainable Furniture Council, a non-profit industry association organized to promote sustainable practices among manufacturers, retailers, and consumers alike.

Minimizing Impact
The Cresent family works to minimize our daily impact on the environment.
All of our furniture cartons contain a minimum of 20% postconsumer recycled content and are printed using soy or vegetable based inks.  We recycle all of our inbound packaging waste in our distribution center and our offices have an active recycling program for office waste as well as a commitment to a tree-free approach to documents, where applicable.  All of our catalogs and marketing materials specify FSC certified papers and soy or vegetable inks.

Triple Bottom Line
The Cresent family firmly supports the triple bottom line of People, Planet, Profits.  Each of these performance metrics coexist as priorities for Cresent and we believe in the merits of each.
