Cresent Craftsmanship
At Cresent®, fine craftsmanship is a tradition. For over fifty years, the Cresent® name has stood for the highest quality at the best value in the furniture industry. Time-tested construction techniques like mortise and tenon joinery, full floating construction, and hand-fitted, graduated drawers ensure quality, while modern machining technology and efficient production techniques allow us to offer high-quality furniture at an unsurpassed value

We begin by selecting the finest Cherry, Maple, Walnut and Mahogany lumber. We inspect and grade each piece of lumber to ensure its quality, and the lumber is then seasoned and kiln-dried to ensure that our furniture will provide the consumer with a lifetime of beauty and enjoyment.

After careful drying, the lumber is precision trimmed and ripped into panels. These panels are glued together and allowed to rest for an extended period, up to a week. This equalization period allows the moisture content of the individual boards to equalize, thus ensuring that panels stay as flat a possible and eliminating sunken glue joints?a traditional problem for solid wood furniture. Panels are then machined using advanced woodworking machinery and techniques to produce consistent results, and each part is inspected after each operation to maintain quality.

Once the parts are sanded (much of which is still done by hand) and inspected once again, they are ready to be assembled. All cases are hand-fitted using mortise and tenon joinery and floating construction to allow the furniture to expand and contract with the seasons. Corner blocks are used to reinforce critical joints, and miter joints are splined to prevent separation. All of our drawer sides and backs are made of solid wood, and are dovetailed front and back for traditional good looks and durability.

Once assembled, the pieces are hand-sanded to ease any sharp edges, and are then inspected once more before being finished in our state-of-the-art finishing building. Our finishing process involves over twenty separate steps, all designed to add depth and character to the natural beauty of the hardwoods.

After finishing, we hand sand and seal the interior of each drawer to eliminate rough edges that may snag clothes.  Each piece is then accented with authentically designed hardware and given a final inspection to ensure that it meets our high standards for quality.

We in the Cresent® family are in our third generation of producing the finest furniture at an outstanding value, and we are proud to carry on this tradition. We invite you to browse our collections and join us in the appreciation of fine furniture built to last a lifetime.
