Top Tips for a Beautiful Thanksgiving Tablescape

November 16, 2015

Thanksgiving is around the corner and we were looking for some advice on how to best set our table for the season.  Our friends from Style Me Pretty have some great tips and beautiful shots from Ruth Eileen Photography.

For this year’s Thanksgiving inspiration, we were influenced by the colors of Fall and a rich, layered tablescape. Starting with our garland DIY and layering in seasonal fruit, gobs of candlelight, ribbon and hints of gold, this gorgeous spread was born. The finishing touch? Personal pies for a look that is cozy, elegant and so ready for a yummy feast. See the full breakdown captured by Ruth Eileen Photography right here in Style Me Pretty’s the VAULT.

Bring out the rich hues for holidays  Let’s face it, faded dying leaves can make for a rather dull palette. Stick with deep jewel tones for a warmer, more celebratory feeling. We based this palette around Abby’s mustard yellow chairs. Our inspiration? This bouquet.

Create a modern cornucopia  The holidays are the perfect time to mix fruit with your flowers (or in our case, a garland)- the key is to keep it unstructured. Small bowls in various sizes filled with fruit or nuts do double duty as appetizers and decor. Or you can go even simpler, like we did this year, and spread your fruit loosely along the table give an air of abundance.

Create a focal point on the table with your centerpiece  Since we decided to use a low garland, we added some height back in by raising candles up on clear stands.

Double up on napkins  If there was ever a meal where two napkins were needed, Thanksgiving is it! It’s a nice way to create a cozy, layered look while mixing colors or patterns.

Go formal without going crazy  You’re aiming to create warm, beautiful environment for your dinner that makes everyone feel welcome. Feel free to pull out the fancy china, but pair it with a rustic homemade mini pie at each placesetting to balance the formal and informal.

You can use these great tips to decorate our new Cottage Casual Dining collection to celebrate the season with your friends and family.
